Mak Polyplast Superior is a polymeric waterproofing membrane consisting of five layers. The Centre core consists of 100 microns High Molecular High Density Polyethylene Film. The Polyethylene Film is the reinforcement barrier against water and moisture. The Centre Core is provided on both sides with APP polymer modified bitumen with properties of high Softening point, Heat resistance and high Penetration making it ideal for waterproofing purposes. The polymer modified bitumen is protected on both sides with thermo-fusible High Molecular High Density Polyethylene Film. The polymeric membrane has elongation exceeding 300% to absorb all Structural movements. It has a very high tensile strength and cold resistivity to adapt to all contours.

Application Procedure:

1. The surface has to be cleaned to have a smooth surface.
2. Apply a coat of Mak Primer @ 0.3 lit/sqm 3. A coat of Mak Blown Bitumen 85/25 or 90/15 is coated on the surface @ 1.2kg/sqm or Mak Bond for cold application.
4. Mak Polyplast Superior is unrolled over the coated surface and bonded completely on the substrate with overlaps of 10 cm. The overlaps are sealed with flame or Mak Blown Bitumen.
5. Mak Polyplast Superior is to be topped with a second layer of Mak Blown Bitumen @ 1.2Kg/Sqm and finished with Mak Silver Paint. If necessary, it can be topped with tiles or cement mortar.

Mak Membrane HDPE -P is a unique membrane HDPE film pressure sensitive adhesive which allows poured concrete to bond fully with the membrane. It provides water, water vapour and gas protection to water excluding structures and protects concrete from aggressive ground salts, chemicals and hydrocarbons. Mak Membrane HDPEP is supplied with a self- adhesive selvedge along one side of the roll to provide sealed laps and a comprehensive range of auxiliary products to simplify the application process.

Application and Advantages:

Specification Clauses: 
The waterproof tanking membrane shall be Mak Membrane HDPE-P, consisting of HDPE membrane which bonds integrally to freshly poured concrete by pressure sensitive adhesive bond.

The membrane shall be supplied with one self-adhesive selvedge to provide sealed laps and comply with British Standard 8102 2009 - Code of practice for “Protection of Structures Against Water from the Ground” to provide basement waterproofing protection to grades 1, 2 and 3.

Application Procedure:  

Surface preparation 

Horizontal application - the membrane must be applied to smooth, prepared substrate. Concrete blinding is preferred. The substrate shall be free from loose aggregate or other sharp protrusions.

Standing water must be removed to prevent contamination of overlaps and subsequent compromise of waterproof properties.

Vertical application - the membrane is applied to temporary or permanent formwork or adjoining structures. Mak Membrane HDPE-P must not be applied directly onto contiguous or secant piled walls. A plywood sacrificial shutter or spray concrete finish should be used prior to application.

Membrane installation

Cut the membrane to a convenient length for installation. Carefully align the membrane and roll it out with printed coated side facing the concrete pour. Lay adjacent sheets accurately so they overlap the previous sheet 75mm along the adhesive selvedge. When laying adjacent full rolls there should be a stagger of half a roll length to avoid building up of end joints in one area.

All overlaps and joints should be firmly rolled to ensure complete adhesion between layers. Remove all release tapes with a short sharp pulling action, especially in hot weather

Removal of formwork
Where the membrane has been applied to removable shuttering it is recommended that a minimum concrete compressive strength of 10 N/mm² is reached before the formwork is stripped.

Penetrations
